California Delicious Head Buyer Judy tells us about her recent visit to the Winter Fancy Food Show 2014 in San Francisco.
2014 Winter Fancy Food Show was another success! There were over 80,000 products to check out and “review” which in buyer’s lingo means to taste! As a buyer for California Delicious, this food show is the ultimate opportunity to research for the best new products for our customers.
Trending for 2014 were healthy snacks and foods like Quinoa, flavored water and gluten-free foods. There were so many companies stepping up and making products for fast-growing gluten-free market.
Everyone was also looking forward to Jelly Belly’s new flavor of draft beer and it really does taste like draft pint of beer!
It was also wonderful to see our California vendors like Sierra Nevada Cheese Company, Le Grand Confectionary, Krave Jerky, TCHO, Gil’s Gourmet and so many more. It’s great to see and taste all their new products.
After trying every Krave flavor available (so far), I can say that Sweet Chipotle is my favorite.
Le Grand Confectionary’s presentation is always so elegant and all of their truffles are so delicious, we love having them as one of our California vendors.
TCHO recently released a very cool Chocolate + Wine Pairing Party-in-a-Box with “24 Flavor-specific Squares of Craft Chocolates, 1 Host Pairing Guide by Dina Chene and 4 Pairing Scorecards” . This really is a great idea for a night in with some friends, all you need is some wine!
Pictured below are TCHO’s yummy Mokaccino collection which is a great collaboration with local Oakland coffee company Blue Bottle. Coffee + Chocolate = Heaven
I found some new California vendors who I would love to work with in the future; Eclipse Chocolates is a chocolate company based in San Diego. All of their chocolates are handcrafted and they don’t use any artificial additives or colorings which really makes their products stand out. They would be a wonderful addition to our gift baskets.
Launched at the Fancy Food Show, Wild California is a fresh new company I’d love to include in our baskets. What makes them different to other California chip brands? Wild California have developed a method of re-purposing the grape skins and seeds thrown out in the wine making process into a flour suitable for baking, hence the name Sonoma Grape Flour®. Most importantly, they taste amazing! Stay Tuned….
The Winter Fancy Food Show is an amazing experience you won’t get anywhere else. We are lucky the Winter show comes to our home in the Bay Area year after year. Can’t wait for next year!
