UnCorked! Wine Festival 2013: San Francisco, California

Guest Blogger Anna tells us about her experiences at the famous UnCorked! Wine Festival in San Francisco

Wine lovers united at this year’s UnCorked! Wine Festival in Ghirardelli Square on May 18th. The event ran from 1p.m to 5p.m with one ticket getting attendees access to a wine glass and unlimited tastings from more than 50 wineries. Ghirardelli Chocolate Company was present passing out samples of their always satisfying Dark Chocolate, Milk Chocolate with Sea Salt and Caramel Chocolate squares.

Along with the chocolate and the wine, Dofino had a booth giving out cheese and cracker samples and there were also food trucks if you wanted a larger lunch with items such as chicken skewers and sandwiches. All of the wine vendors were very friendly and knowledgeable about their wine and were happy to answer any questions from tasters.

The wineries represented all different regions of California including those in Northern California’s Napa Valley and the central coast’s vineyards in Paso Robles and San Luis Obispo. It was nice to experience a diverse group of wineries including some very well known such as Robert Mondavi and also ones that were a little more unfamiliar such as Spicy Vineyards Spiced Wine.

One of the best parts of the festival is that UnCorked! teamed up with Save the Bay, a non-profit that works to keep the San Francisco bay and surrounding areas clean. A portion of ticket sales went to Save the Bay, keeping profits local and meaningful.

There was music entertainment and a grassy lawn with a breathtaking view of the bay to enjoy while sipping on the best wines around!
