According to Yahoo, SF’s celebration of this Saints day is one of the longest St Patrick’s Day traditions in the state. And with over 1 million Irish descendants in the SF Bay Area, this 2 day long event is bound to be busy! Venture towards Irish bars in the downtown, North Beach area and you’ll find many festive grownups enjoying block parties- these festivities are definitely not kid friendly unless you enjoy losing your children in large crowds….For a more traditional and family friendly vibe, head to Civic Center and watch the parade and festivities there including live music, dancing and traditional Irish fare!
Every year, thousands of people meet up in the historic gold town of Murphys and celebrate the rich Celtic culture that exists there and int eh surrounding area. Murphy’s Irish Day is a fundraiser for lots of community projects and local non-profits so its a great excuse to celebrate in the street for a good cause! “The day begins with a pancake breakfast.
