Marketing assistant Maya reveals her new-found love for everything lavender…
I learnt about this festival through work and was instantly intrigued. Despite the highly descriptive website for the festival, I still had no idea what to expect when we arrived.
Upon arrival, there was lavender everywhere. It finally clicked- It was a true celebration of lavender.
The Original Lavender Barn- where Rebecca and Gary Rosenberg staged their first Lavender Festival.
Over the last decade, this festival has grown and grown in popularity…
There were two distinct lavender plants growing here: Provence” and “Grosso”- together, these created a beautiful visual effect.
There were many lavender activities to enjoy and notably, there were an overwhelming amount of people dressed in lavender.
This stand showcased lavender salts, lavender chili powers and lavender dough…they had samples of lavender biscuits which were yummy.
They had complimentary lavender hand-spa treatments…
With lavender bath salts…
Creams and sprays, which were all available for purchase at the barn.
It was an extensive hand treatment performed by a nice young girl who had been volunteering with her family at the festival since it started.
This treatment left my hand amazingly smooth and tingly and I was convinced to buy some lavender room spray.
Not surprisingly, there were many edible lavender treats on offer…
The extent of the culinary lavender menu was surprising to me.
I found these menu items inspirational for my own cooking experiments…
Everything sounded delicious, healthy and fresh.
Even the adult beverages….
We decided to try some of the sparkling wine provided by Breathless- which was divine though sadly not lavender infused.
Next I decided to make my own lavender table decoration…
The lovely lady helping me turned out to be the grandmother of our charming hand spa technician!
(And an expert lavender wreath-maker).
This activity turned out to be harder than it seemed- but infinitely more fun!
My friend and I with my finished decoration. All the proceeds from all the activities and purchases went to support the Well’s Fargo Education for the Arts.
The whole festival took place on the Rosenberg’s private property- which was simply breathtaking.
The festival, which happens annually, occurs the weekend before the lavender is cut so it is in it’s fullest force for the festival
Just walking around and through the plants was a full-sensory experience…
Even the bees agreed…
Lavender is California Delicious.
