Buyer Judy tells us about a recent family outing to the Pumpkin Patch and World Famous Corn Maze in Dixon, California…
We arrive to the pumpkin patch late Saturday afternoon and were a great day for a fall activity. It is right off Interstate 80 so the location was very easy to find.
There were lots of families picking-out pumpkins for the little ones and they also had smaller corn mazes and hay rides for smaller children.
We paid for our tickets and needed to purchase a corn maze ticket by 8pm to get into the corn maze before it closed at 10pm. The organizers provide you with a detailed maze map and advise you that it should take roughly 2 hours to get through the maze. Many families recommend going when the patch first opens in the beginning of October because by the end of the month, the maze pathways are not as organized and open. They start to harvest all their corn in early November so the patch closes soon after Halloween after a huge Pumpkin smashing event!
We had 4 adults and 7 kids in our group so as we started the maze, all the kids were running around everywhere because they were so excited. The kids enjoyed it immensely because it was like a huge puzzle piece game to find their way out.
By the time we finished the whole 52 acres of maze, it was getting very late and people were still coming in at night. It’s very popular at night; people bring flashlights and warm clothing when the temperature drops.
You can see all the pumpkins on the ground and can actually pick them from the ground which is really exciting. All the pumpkins are bright orange and ready to be brought home and carved. The pumpkin patch was pretty large so the organizers provided little wagons to take your pumpkins back to your cars easily.
I would definitely suggest that everyone wear very comfy shoes because the pathways are all bumpy. Also I would bring drinking water since the maze takes a long time. Also it may be a good idea to bring lunch or snack and leave it in the car since the maze takes awhile and the children may be hungry.
Corn Maze admission is $10 dollars.
Corn Maze and Pumpkin Patch is open from 9am-10pm Daily.
